About the Teacher:
I grew up on the south side of Chicago in Oak Lawn. From Kindergarten through 8th grade I attended St. Gerald School where I played basketball and volleyball. In the summers I played softball through my park district. In high school I continued playing all three sports and took electives in child development, psychology, and sociology. I attended Illinois State University where I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Education with a concentration in Elementary Education. I also obtained middle school endorsements in general science, language arts, and social science. When I wasn't studying or student teaching, I was playing on ISU's ultimate frisbee team and club volleyball team.
Whenever I am not teaching or coaching, I am enjoying time with my family & friends, playing sports, and hanging out with my dog Dude and my puppy Otis. My husband Kyle and I are avid volleyball fans and players so you may catch us on the neighborhood sand courts. I am a huge sports fan and you can find me cheering on the Bears, Blackhawks, Cubs and White Sox! I also like to cheer on my Bulldogs so please be sure to send me your team's schedule regardless of sport!! My dog Dude is 7 years old and I rescued him from a shelter in 2011. Our dog Otis (Odie for short) is an Australian Shepherd who is 2. These two love to play at the park, run on the trails, and play frisbee. For some extra summer fun, my husband and I decided to get Dude and Otis a sister. As of May 2017, Lucy is two months old and is loving life with her brothers!
Personally, I am so excited to continue to live my passion of teaching middle school here at Culver School. Junior High is my favorite level to teach as I get to assist and nurture students as they learn vital skills that will make them successful in their lives not only now but in their futures as well. I consider myself blessed to have the opportunity to teach at such an extraordinary school/community with an extremely collaborative staff, supportive parents, and hard working students for another year. I look forward to a wonderful school year!!
